We blessed our sweet Anna tonight at Dave's parents home. Dave's schedule is so crazy that we could never find a Sunday to do it, so we just settled on a Saturday and had a nice private blessing with our family. The whole night was wonderful and Dave gave such a beautiful blessing for Anna. She looked like the little princess that she is in her blessing gown. So beautiful. (to me at least!) It was such a special night to share with all of our family. We love them all so much and appreciate all they do for us! And a special thanks to my Mom and Mary for all their help too!
I really do feel so blessed to have Anna in our lives. She has brought so much joy to us already! It makes me excited and nervous to think of her future as Dave blessed her tonight. I look forward to all the fun times we have ahead of us, but at the same time I have fear and hope that we can raise her to be a good person and make good decisions in her life. (No pressure or anything! ) I am truly grateful for all of the blessings in our life. It helps to know that the gospel and our faith, one another, our families, and good friends will always be there to help us along the way.
My mom got most of the pictures tonight, but these are a few we got with our camera. A (not so) fun fact about the picture above...To make the night more exciting Anna decided to go poopers sometime before this picture was taken. I was suspicious during the picture and so I checked and...whoa! Just what I feared...blow out in her beautiful silk dress! Just this morning I was debating whether to get a plastic diaper cover, but thought, she'll only be in it for about 20 minutes. What are the chances? Well, pretty good I guess! Sure hope the dry cleaner knows how to get baby poopers out of silk!
The first step is admitting you have a problem, right? Well, I have a problem. I think I am addicted to buying scrapbook stuff. The problem with this addiction is that I don't use any of it. I go in the store to buy one thing and then I see all this cute stuff and it somehow ends up in my basket. What's that? Pebbles is having its anniversary sale? I better go and stock up! So I've stocked up at that very sale for the last couple years and I have yet to use up any of the inventory that I have purchased. The Roberts 40% off coupons? Marketing geniuses! I go in there to use my coupon and, oh, look at this cute paper on sale! And card stock 30% off? I better get some to go with the cute paper I just bought. I have every intention of using this stuff and I even envision the pages in my head, but it seems like I never have time to actually do it. And then if I do start, I get impatient and just do a simple page anyway. I blame it on the scrapbooking companies. They keep on making cute new stuff. And it makes my old stuff look lame and boring. Why is it so much fun to buy? It's gotten worse since I've had a baby too. I have hundreds of pictures of Anna so far (thanks to my mom and the picture taking gene she passed on to me) and only 1 has been scrapbooked. (the hospital picture) My craft room is overflowing and I think I should maybe just open up my own store or something. Then I can have fun buying all the cute stuff, but then I can give it to people who might actually use it (and then get paid back of course!) By now I could have paid for one of those nice expensive albums from Exposures and just slide the pictures in and I'd be done. But then it's not as cute right? Should I get over the cute? So I'm admitting my problem and now that it's on my blog, Dave might actually find out. I'm not sure if he's on to me yet. And I'm noticing a pattern of a new addiction...blogging! Well, now that I've admitted my problem, what's the next step?
Dave is one of the hardest working med students I know and it's about time he get some credit for it! Dave has been selected to be a part of Jr. AOA! What the heck is that you ask? It's Alpha Omega Alpha. Since that doesn't really clear things up, let me explain... AOA is a medical honor society that honors the top 5% of the med school class. There were 5 students selected and Dave was also selected to be co-president.
