These days

So I decided I had better give a quick update on what we're up to these days. Then maybe some of my future posts will make more sense and you won't wonder why the topics of colon surgeries, technology marketing trends, and baby dandruff come up during dinner..

Dave - Dave is in his 3rd year of medical school and is busy right now doing his surgery rotation. The mornings are early and the nights are long for him these days. His alarm has been going off around 4 am lately. Although he's lacking sleep, he is really enjoying this rotation and it is convincing him to pursue some type of surgery as a specialty. He's been doing oncological surgery for the last 3 weeks and he'll do vascular surgery for the next 3. We miss him at home, but it's just part of the gig.

Ashley - I am having so much fun being a Mom! I knew I would love it, but I didn't realize HOW MUCH I would love it. I am still trying to figure it out because I feel clueless a lot, but I guess the mothering instinct just comes. It seems like as soon as I feel like I've figured it out, she starts changing and growing, so I have to learn something new. It's so fun though and I've never been happier. I went back to work part-time 2 weeks ago. I hate being away from her, but we've got to pay the bills. I'm still working at the advertising agency as an account supervisor, but I am working on VeriSign now doing industry research and reporting. Sounds exciting, huh?

Anna - She is still busy being a cutie. She will be 3 months on Saturday and I can't believe how time flies. She loves her swing and trying to talk to me. She's all smiles these days, unless she's tired and then you won't believe such a loud cry can come from such a small girl. She is suffering from cradle cap and if anyone has any good ideas on how to get rid of it, please send. (It will help me to stop picking at it!)

OK. Sorry, that wasn't exactly a quick update. If you are still reading this, you are patient. thanks!

Simple Pleasures

OK. Here we are! We have officially joined the blogging club. I was trying to ignore it for awhile, but I just couldn't take the peer pressure anymore. Actually I just didn't really think our lives were that exciting to justify blogging. But I've been thinking about all of the blessings in my life right now and even though they may not seem exciting, they sure are making us happy. Of course the biggest blessing of all is our almost 3 month old baby Anna. We just love her so much and she makes us so happy. (and at times, sleepy) She is so much fun and brings us so many simple pleasures. I think that's the theme of our blog...nothing too outstanding or exciting, but just the simple pleasures of life. Like when Anna wakes up in the morning and gives me the biggest smile, or when she laughs at me when I'm being silly, to see her learn and grow each day, or when the sun comes out after a dumb snow storm (I hate winter), or finding $20 in my coat pocket (that really happened to me last week!), or Dave having a day off and getting to sleep in. Of course I'll try not to bore you each time these things happen, but just wanted to warn you from the get go, I love the simple things in life and that's what I get excited about. So thanks for looking and hopefully this is a good way to keep you all up to date on our simple, but happy lives.

Of course I had to include some pictures of our cutie. Here are some recent ones. I couldn't decide which one to post so I just added all three. (I have decision issues) I just got that cool little chair for her. It's so funny because it lets her sit up just like she's a big kid. Whenever I put her in it, I can tell she thinks she's pretty cool.
